I receive many frequently asked questions for this amazing brand I am building alongside my mom, & I am excited to answer them in a blog post.
While I am going to answer many of my frequently asked questions through this post, I want to invite you to another very special read, as well…
I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Voyage KC, an online magazine dedicated to highlight entrepreneurs & business, & I am excited to announce I was selected to be one of their featured figures. You can read my interview here. I discuss the heart behind Melane & Co., how I began modeling, the ups & the downs, & everything in between.
Now, I want to highlight the questions I get asked the most!
How did Melane & Co. become a brand?
My mom & I began brainstorming ideas for this brand right before lockdown. During the lockdown, I challenged myself to paint something everyday. Although I did not always accomplish this goal, I have a notebook with many pieces to look back on, & by looking at my older pieces of artwork, I can see how far I have come. After several paintings, I created Hello, Deer, which was the painting I was the most impressed with during lockdown.
How much time does it take to create a painting?
Overall, it varies, but each piece typically takes about 4-6 hours, which does not include corresponding with pet owners, wrapping up orders, responding to emails, & more. That is to say, I do not keep much track of how many hours I spend on a painting, I simply work until it is finished! I can honestly say when you order any Melane & Co. pet portrait, cards, or prints, it was created with care, & shipped with excitement.
How long have you been painting?
I began painting once I could pick up a brush! I began showing in galleries at the age of five, but I took a break after the age of eight. During that time, I grew so much as an individual, & carried a new perspective on art, as well as life. I discuss more about my early artistic life in my VoyageKC interview.
Do you want to continue building this brand in the future?
Yes, I do! I know it will grow & change in many amazing ways, but our mission will remain the same: to give others joy.
